I've had a look at both illustration submissions and I can't see that anybodies asked this question already (forgive me if they have :S) What media did you use to do these? They look like they might be gouache or digital but I can't decide xD

Incredibly professional looking and as so many others have said, they do look like they've come right out of a wildlife encyclopedia ^^
The flamingo and chameleon are my favourites because of their bright colours but the pika is wonderful because of the fur texture, just such wonderful drawings

The media is mixed - I submitted the pictures into "digital" though, because it's the major style. I just painted them using acrylics (to gain textures and painterly feel; some pictures don't turn out so very well so their digital remake is standing out much more) and then I finish them (additional texture and anatomy corrections) digitally.
